Australia's family owned business established in 1953 manufactures dermatological skin care products; QV skincare, SunSense, Aquim hand sanitiser, Elucent and more

The company is the largest dermatology manufacturer in Australia making products for the skin, from skin creams location to prescription treatment products.

Challenges and reason to embark on this project

Ego was running CHaRM and Solution Manager with no update since it was implemented in 2010. When Influx Systems started work on Solution Manager the system had a few challenges, the ChaRM version was unsupported and out of date , the operating system was also out of support. The business wanted to utilise CHaRM to up keep its SAP change and be audit compliance.

The project requires that we overcome and ensure the following;

Transports dependencies to be tracked with development IDs
SAP Transports automated to Production
Implement Solution Manger 7.2 and migrate and CHaRM 7.0 to 7.2
Organise and close unused SAP transports which were left open in Solution Manager

Here are some of the challenges that Ego Pharmaceutical faced in this project:

The Solution manager version was on was extremely out dated
It wasn’t possible to upgrade directly to 7.2
Require new OS build with a replicated Solution Manager system. At one point we had two servers with the same SAP SID
Business knowledge and know-how of CHaRM was limited

Solution

Planning and organisation to ensure SAP Solution manager implementation is a success.

Influx Systems plan and execute the project as follows:

Upgrade CHaRM from 7.0 to 7.1
Migrated Solman to new Platform
Upgrade Solmanto 7.2
Orchestrate and migrate SAP changes (Transport) from the 7.0 version to version 7.2. Decouple and update transports to upgradable version 7.1
Adjustments of transports to version 7.2
Content activations, roles and RFC’s
Implement new features and changes; CHaRM via Web UI interface
Training and information session was conducted to enhance understanding of ChaRM and SAP changes
Guided procedures on how-to for functional staff on doing SAP Changes
Developed how-to’s to help business understands change processes

SAP change cycles went from none to yearly, this keep Ego’s SAP changes are organise and clean
Streamlined and allow for emergency changes to be quickly implemented
Ego change systems are at SAP best practice compliance with auditing compliance and ITIL
Ego SAP changes are organised, controlled and ensuring Ego’s SAP system to be use as single source of truth
Reduces SAP Basis management of change from 3-4hrs per week to less than 20 Mins per week
Documented and updated SAP change processes with ChaRM in Solution Manager
